Funkverbindung mit der ISS - ARISS
Am 28. April 2007 war es endlich soweit: nach mehrjähriger Vorbereitungs- und Wartezeit fand unsere Funkverbindung mit Sunita Williams, KD5PLB, statt.

Ab ca. 14.20 UTC konnten wir unsere 20 vorbereiteten Fragen stellen:
1. My name is Stephanie, DO2BOS. Can you watch an erruption of a vulcano from your station? Over.
2. My name is Francis, DO2BO. Is it possible to you to watch TV programmes by using satellits? Over.
3. My name is Andre, DN1HSC. Can you recieve terrestrial radio programmes in the orbit? Over.
4. My name is Felix, DN1HSC. Could you watch sport events by television? Over.
5. My name is Martin, DN1HSC. How does a higher sunactivity influence your space station? Over.
6. My name is Stephanie, DO2BOS. Can you see Northern Leights from the orbit? Over.
7. My name is Francis, DO2BO. Can you see the lightnings of a thunderstorm? Over.
8. My name is Andre, DN1HSC. Can you notice any influences of the atmosphere on the ISS? Over.
9. My name is Felix, DN1HSC. Does the weather on earth influence your work on the station? Over.
10. My name is Martin, DN1HSC. Can you notice the melting of our poles? Over.

Nach der 18. Frage begann das Signal zu schwinden, so dass wir uns von Sunita verabschiedeten und die Funkverbindung beendeten. Viele Stationen in Europa verfolgten den Kontakt und sandten uns ihre Mitschnitte:

Die Medien berichteten ausführlich über dieses Ereignis, der MDR strahlte es sogar über Satellit aus, so dass viele Europäer den Bericht sehen konnten. KX4Y empfing den Originalton aus der Klubstation per Skype und stellte ihn per Echolink weltweit zur Verfügung.
